At IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 in Hannover, Germany, a major international platform for the commercial vehicle and transportation industry, BAIC FOTON showcased a comprehensive range of vehicles alongside six independently developed core components. Focusing on vehicle architecture platforms, electric powertrain systems, intelligent driving, and smart cockpit technologies, BAIC FOTON presented a range of independently developed innovations and technologies that have entered production or application. The exhibits cover key European transport scenarios, including long-haul logistics, urban sanitation, urban distribution, and public transportation, demonstrating technology solutions designed to support the low-carbon and intelligent development of the global logistics and transportation industry.

BAIC FOTON begins its technological innovation with advancements in vehicle architecture and platforms.
The CAVAN BEACON zero-carbon intelligent long-haul heavy-duty truck, which made its debut at IAA TRANSPORTATION in Hannover, is built on a dedicated platform designed to support both hydrogen and battery-electric power. Through modular configurations, the platform can accommodate 15 vehicle variants and supports multiple technology pathways, including battery-electric, battery-swapping, gaseous hydrogen and liquid hydrogen solutions. The DAYSTAR battery-electric light-duty truck chassis is based on a purpose-built electric platform developed from the ground up. Its next-generation electrical and electronic architecture supports driver assistance, remote vehicle control and digital fleet management. The eGALAXUS D3 low-entry battery-electric sanitation sweeper features a seven-channel CAN architecture, an independently developed VCU based on the AUTOSAR architecture, and standardized interfaces to improve compatibility with a wide range of body applications.




Going Deeper into Core Technologies, Advancing System Efficiency with In-House E-Powertrain Technologies
BAIC FOTON has further expanded its R&D efforts into core areas of electric powertrains and energy replenishment, showcasing its in-house heavy-duty power batteries, electric drive axles for light- and heavy-duty vehicles, vehicle control units (VCUs), and megawatt-level charging equipment. The light-duty electric drive axle features an integrated “MTCU + SiC + oil-cooled hairpin motor” architecture, achieving an overall system efficiency of 95.7%. These independently developed core components help further improve overall system efficiency and safety.





From core components to complete vehicles, different powertrain technologies are applied with distinct technical focuses across the product portfolio. The CAVAN BEACON features an 800V high-voltage liquid-cooled fast-charging system, while the eGALAXUS D3 is equipped with a fully in-house-developed electric powertrain system covering the battery, motor and electronic control system. The GALAXUS R9 PHEV hybrid heavy-duty truck integrates a dedicated hybrid engine, traction battery and intelligent control system to support energy recovery and electric motor assistance, with transmission efficiency of up to 99.8%. The TUNLAND V9 PHEV pickup combines a 2.0T dedicated hybrid gasoline engine, a P12 four-speed DHT and a traction battery, delivering a combined output of 350 kW and combined torque of 800 N·m. The eAURORA battery-electric city bus supports 400 kW fast charging, while its electric powertrain system is designed to meet European durability requirements for 10 years or 1.2 million kilometers of operation.







Advancing Intelligence: From Vehicle Control to Human-Vehicle Interaction
BAIC FOTON integrates intelligent technologies across a range of commercial vehicle applications. The GALAXUS R9 PHEV is equipped with HWP integrated driver-assistance technology, while the DAYSTAR supports the expansion of urban NOA capabilities. The all-electric CAVAN C1 mid-size VAN features a 5R1V intelligent sensing system and driver-assistance functions. The eGALAXUS D3 and eAURORA support L2-level driver assistance and assisted-driving safety systems, respectively. The CAVAN BEACON is equipped with ICA/HWP integrated driver-assistance technology and supports 22 driver-assistance functions.
Smart cockpits further connect drivers, vehicles and information. CAVAN BEACON introduces an AI-powered large language model for voice interaction in a commercial vehicle application, while GALAXUS R9 PHEV offers more than 800 smart cockpit functions and supports over 400 types of vehicle-to-cloud connected data.


By advancing the coordinated development of complete vehicles and independently developed core components, while pursuing multiple energy technology pathways, BAIC FOTON is building a more comprehensive in-house technology system. Looking ahead to global premium markets, BAIC FOTON will continue to strengthen R&D in core technologies and vehicle integration capabilities, reinforce the technical foundation across the full value chain for international expansion, and create broader opportunities for Chinese commercial vehicles to participate in global competition.
