On September 14, IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 opened in Hannover, Germany, bringing together leading companies and industry stakeholders from across the global commercial vehicle sector. At the show, BAIC FOTON presented a range of complete vehicles and core self-developed components, with several models making their overseas debuts. During a dedicated press conference, the company also shared updates on its European market strategy, key milestones in its global development, and the launch of new flagship products. Backed by capabilities in product innovation, core technologies, new-energy development, and localized operations, BAIC FOTON is advancing from a traditional export model toward a broader full-value-chain approach to international growth. 13 Million Vehicles Delivered, Marking a New Milestone in FOTON’s Global Development


The event marked an important milestone in the development of BAIC FOTON, as Chang Rui, General Manager of BAIC Group and Chairman of BAIC FOTON, officially delivered the company’s 13 millionth vehicle worldwide. The milestone vehicle was the FOTON GALAXUS 9, which has completed real-world testing in Spain. With its strong overall performance and product quality, the model is entering Europe’s premium long-haul logistics market and represents FOTON’s continued progress in expanding into the global high-end commercial vehicle segment.



The delivery of 13 million vehicles reflects not only BAIC FOTON’s decades of commitment to the commercial vehicle sector, continuous technological advancement, and steady expansion across global markets, but also the growing maturity of China’s commercial vehicle industry and the increasing recognition of its manufacturing capabilities worldwide. From strengthening its position in the domestic market and building a solid industrial foundation to expanding its business presence across more than 140 countries and regions, BAIC FOTON’s global development journey reflects the broader transformation of Chinese intelligent manufacturing as it has grown from a strong domestic base to an increasingly international presence. The successful entry of GALAXUS 9 into the Spanish market represents an important step in BAIC FOTON’s development in the premium long-haul logistics segment overseas. It demonstrates the growing competitiveness of Chinese premium heavy-duty trucks in international markets and provides a solid foundation for further expansion in Europe and other global markets.


At the press conference, Liu Xuguang, EVP of BAIC FOTON, officially unveiled the company’s European strategy. He stated that, in line with its vision of becoming a world-class commercial vehicle company, BAIC FOTON has set development targets for 2030, including new energy vehicles accounting for 50% of total sales and international sales representing 40%. As a key hub market in BAIC FOTON’s global strategy, Europe will play an important role in supporting the brand’s continued development in the premium segment and its international expansion.



Guided by a long-term development approach, BAIC FOTON follows the principle of “In Europe, For Europe,” with a strong focus on the real-world operating needs of European customers. Through three key areas—localized product adaptation, development of integrated ecosystem capabilities, and collaborative partnerships supported by deeper local operations—FOTON is steadily strengthening its localized capabilities and providing systematic support for commercial vehicle customers across Europe.


In terms of product portfolio, BAIC FOTON has developed a comprehensive product matrix across multiple vehicle categories and technology pathways, supported by the differentiated positioning of its brands. With close attention to European regulatory requirements, road conditions, and customers’ operational needs, FOTON is focusing on three major technology pathways: battery electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell. Its portfolio covers a broad range of commercial vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, and pickups. In terms of ecosystem development, FOTON will focus on building a localized new energy ecosystem in Europe. Through a combination of self-developed, jointly developed, and interconnected models, FOTON aims to establish end-to-end support capabilities covering energy replenishment, vehicle operations, and aftermarket services. By working closely with local partners across Europe, FOTON will continue to strengthen its global service capabilities and provide reliable support for the overseas operation of new energy commercial vehicles.


In terms of localization, FOTON will continue to strengthen its presence across sales channels, after-sales service, R&D, and manufacturing. Currently, FOTON has established sales networks in nearly 20 European markets and plans to expand coverage to major European markets by 2028. For its service and spare parts network, FOTON has established a regional parts center in Germany and national parts warehouses in 17 countries, including the UK, France, and Hungary. At present, FOTON has more than 300 service outlets across Europe. Going forward, FOTON will work closely with its European partners to further expand investment in service and spare parts infrastructure, with the aim of improving network coverage and service capacity.


In R&D and manufacturing, FOTON plans to establish a local technology center in Europe to better understand regional market needs and support product definition. By 2028, FOTON aims to begin local assembly in Europe, helping ensure that vehicles and components comply with relevant EU regulations. At the same time, leveraging its German subsidiary BROCK, FOTON will further develop its connected-vehicle service operations in Europe and continue strengthening its localized business capabilities.

CAVAN BEACON Makes Its Global Debut, Setting a New Benchmark for Zero-Carbon Intelligent Heavy-Duty Trunk Transport


As the global transition toward carbon neutrality continues to accelerate, new energy heavy-duty trucks are becoming an important driver of transformation in the long-haul logistics industry, supported by their lower carbon emissions across the vehicle lifecycle. Over its full lifecycle, a single new energy heavy-duty truck can reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 200 tonnes compared with a conventional diesel-powered vehicle, highlighting the growing role of new energy solutions in the industry’s transition. At the launch event, Wu Zongtian, President of BAIC FOTON International, officially introduced the CAVAN BEACON zero-carbon intelligent long-haul heavy-duty truck to the global market. With its advanced technologies, energy efficiency, intelligent driving experience and long-term durability, the CAVAN BEACON aims to set a new benchmark for premium zero-carbon long-haul heavy-duty trucks worldwide.



Built on a purpose-developed platform designed for both hydrogen and battery-electric applications, CAVAN BEACON features three core architectures covering the body, electrical and electronic systems, and chassis. By combining different cab configurations, e-axles, batteries, and fuel-cell systems, the platform supports 15 vehicle variants for a wide range of long-haul transport applications. It accommodates multiple technology pathways, including battery electric, battery swapping, gaseous hydrogen, and liquid hydrogen, helping address diverse operating scenarios and working conditions.


In terms of charging and driving range, the vehicle features megawatt-level fast-charging technology, supporting a maximum charging power of 1.44 MW. Charging from 20% to 80% takes just 18 minutes, helping address the challenges of charging efficiency and limited range in new-energy vehicles used for medium- and long-haul logistics. The fully electric version offers a driving range of over 600 km, enabling it to serve a broader range of medium- and long-haul transport scenarios and further improve the practicality of new-energy heavy-duty trucks in trunk logistics operations.


In terms of intelligent driving, CAVAN BEACON is equipped with an ICA/HWP combined driver assistance system, integrating 22 intelligent assistance functions, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic lane changing, and assisted overtaking. These functions are designed to support a range of highway driving scenarios. According to relevant test data, the system achieved a response success rate of over 99% in abnormal driving scenarios. The vehicle also has the technical capability to support further development toward Level 4 automated driving functions, providing room for future upgrades in intelligent logistics applications.


In terms of energy efficiency, the vehicle incorporates key technologies including an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.28, scenario-based adaptive control strategies, and a highly integrated predictive thermal management system. Together, these technologies help reduce overall vehicle energy consumption by 15%. The 6×4 battery-electric model achieves energy consumption as low as 115 kWh per 100 km, while the 4×2 model reaches as low as 105 kWh per 100 km. The 6×4 hydrogen fuel-cell model consumes as little as 7.6 kg of hydrogen per 100 km. The battery-electric model offers a driving range of more than 600 km, while the hydrogen fuel-cell model exceeds 1,000 km, delivering improvements in both energy efficiency and driving range.



Designed for the high-frequency, demanding operating conditions of long-haul drivers, the cab has been comprehensively upgraded to enhance both comfort and usability. A four-point floating cab suspension system and premium air-suspension seats help reduce overall vehicle vibration by 25% and improve comfort by 20%, helping ease fatigue during long-distance driving. The vehicle also introduces an AI-powered voice assistant with large-model capabilities, supporting functions such as intelligent Q&A and casual conversation. A 12.3-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen provide practical features including truck-specific navigation, smartphone connectivity and multi-screen interaction. In addition, the 1,450 mm low-floor design, 1,000 mm wide sleeper berth, 420 L of storage space and power-assisted door functions further enhance everyday convenience and long-distance living comfort, creating a refined, driver-focused mobile space for long-haul journeys.

At this exhibition, BAIC FOTON presents a broad range of technologies and products developed for international high-end markets, with seven complete vehicles and six key components on display. The vehicle lineup includes the GALAXUS R9 PHEV, CAVAN BEACON, eGALAXUS D3, DAYSTAR, CAVAN C1, TUNLAND V9 PHEV, and eAURORA. Covering heavy-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, pickups, buses, and special-purpose vehicles, the lineup also supports multiple powertrain technologies, including battery electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell solutions. Together, these products demonstrate BAIC FOTON’s ability to build a diversified portfolio for a wide range of global operating scenarios.Among them, the CAVAN C1 has already entered commercial sales, while the GALAXUS 9 has successfully completed real-world application testing in Spain. Several other new models are making their first public appearance in overseas markets, reflecting BAIC FOTON’s continued product development and innovation for global customers.
