Lower Carbon, Full Versatility: FOTON TUNLAND V9 PHEV Showcases Its Multi-Scenario Capabilities in Hannover

The value of a pickup is never defined by performance figures alone. From city driving and long-distance travel to towing and outdoor use, different scenarios place very different demands on a vehicle. During IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026, FOTON showcased the TUNLAND V9 PHEV at Hall 21 in Hannover. Featuring plug-in hybrid technology, the model is designed to balance strong performance, extended driving range and adaptability across varied road conditions. While adopting a new powertrain, it retains the versatility expected of a pickup, supporting a wide range of needs across work, everyday life and long-distance travel. Through the TUNLAND V9 PHEV, FOTON is also expanding its new-energy product portfolio to address the increasingly diverse needs of customers in global markets.

Multi-Gear Hybrid Power, Adapted to Every Task

Urban logistics and off-road applications in Europe place different demands on powertrains. Daily operations call for efficiency, while highway driving, towing and more challenging road conditions require sufficient power and performance.

The TUNLAND V9 PHEV is powered by a 2.0T high-efficiency gasoline engine developed specifically for hybrid applications, paired with a P12 four-speed DHT and a 32.85 kWh battery. The powertrain delivers a combined output of 350 kW and 800 N·m of torque, intelligently coordinating the engine and dual electric motors to adapt to different driving conditions.

Its performance and efficiency can be balanced according to different tasks and operating scenarios, allowing electrification to complement rather than limit the versatility traditionally expected of a pickup. With the TUNLAND V9 PHEV, FOTON addresses both lower-carbon mobility needs and users’ expectations for performance and multi-purpose capability, supporting a broader range of mobility and work requirements.

1,000 km Combined Range, Ready for Daily Drives and Longer Journeys

Pickup trucks are used not only for everyday driving but also for long-distance travel. If the transition to new energy limits driving range, their versatility across different use cases may also be reduced.

The TUNLAND V9 PHEV offers a WLTC all-electric range of 100 km and a combined range of up to 1,000 km. For shorter trips, it can rely more on electric driving, while on longer journeys, the hybrid system helps provide greater range flexibility.

Balancing both city driving and journeys farther afield, pickup trucks can fit more naturally into family life, travel and outdoor activities. As their use expands beyond work, FOTON pickups are able to address a broader range of user needs.

Rugged Capability, Ready for More Demanding Scenarios

Towing, water crossings and unpaved roads are key challenges for pickup trucks in demanding environments, while electrification also places higher requirements on battery protection.

The TUNLAND V9 PHEV offers a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, a wading depth of 800 mm, and a minimum ground clearance of 250 mm. Its traction battery features 360° protection and meets the IP68 rating.

From professional applications to outdoor exploration, these capabilities enable new-energy technology to meet the demanding requirements of pickup use cases, while helping build user confidence in FOTON’s new-energy pickups through proven real-world performance.

The TUNLAND V9 PHEV further expands FOTON’s new energy product portfolio for global markets, extending new energy technologies into the pickup segment, where vehicles serve both work and everyday lifestyle needs. As FOTON continues to advance its internationalization and new energy strategies, the company will keep developing products tailored to the needs of different markets and application scenarios, responding to global customers’ demand for efficient, reliable and versatile mobility.
